Ida Folger Garfield
December 12, 1912 - September 22, 2008
Ida Folger Garfield, widow of Arthur B. Garfield died Monday, September 22, 2008 at Hospice Savannah.
A native of Thunderbolt, GA she was the seventh daughter of William Clayton and Lily May Doane Folger. She graduated with the class of 1931 from Savannah High School, attended Richards Business College and Savannah Vocational School. She retired in 1975 from the Chatham County-Savannah Board of Education as Assistant to the Director of Savannah Food Services after twenty-nine years of service. She was a forty year member of Hull Memorial Presbyterian Church before it closed, she joined First Presbyterian Church of Savannah in 1991. She was a member of the National and Local AARP, GREA and CREA and the Parkside Neighborhood Association.
She is survived by a brother, Charles Bernard Bunny Folger; sisters-in-law, Mary Garfield Coward and Francis Garfield. Surviving nieces and nephews include James and Margaret Hosselton Avery, Gwen Bryant Boyles, Charles Sheppard and Charlotte Hamm III, Gordon and Caroline Rehm Cowart, Robert and Elizabeth Folger Pennington, Susan Folger and Donal O'Leary, Charles Bernard Folger, Jr., Walter and Dolores Coward, Cynthia Coward, Dan and Mary Ann Fogerty, Walter and Varn Garfield, Frank and Helen Jarvis, Clifford Garfield, Arthur Garfield, Linda Garfield, John Allen Garfield, Buddy Garfield. Surviving great nieces and nephews include, Eddie, Wendy, Mark, Mike Avery and families, Clay, Jenny, Mike, David Boyles and families, Chad and John Hamm, Don and Deborah Rehm Tomberlin and family, Vann and Dana Rehm Lane and family, Chris Geriner and son, Pat and Lynn Geriner McAulliffe and family, Walter Coward III, Ed and Becky Coward, Mary Ann Bell, Ruth Ann and David Sauers, Rosie Hinteregger, Stephen and Adrian Coward, Dan and Marie Fogarty, Hugh and Cindy Exton, Gail and Fred Young, Walter Garfield III, Michael Garfield, Bonnie McKee, Barbara Shulock, Maggie McDonough, Cecile Komara, Suzanne Kaster, Tommy Perry, Richard Carufel, Michael Carufel and Tim Carufel and numerous great great nieces and nephews and beloved extended families, Fred C. and Janet Kunz and families Ricky, Kyle and Kim, John and Bonnie Harris and Chip and Jim Harris.
Visitation: 4:00-6:00 PM Wednesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Thursday at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery with Dr. Stephen C. Williams officiating.

Family members, please accept my condolences. Ida helped others fold the church newsletter each week for several years. She enjoyed working with the group so much and we enjoyed having her.
